About the Job

About the Role

We’re looking for a Scriptwriter & Creative Ops Associate to support our YouTube content production and day-to-day creative operations.

This is a hands-on, hybrid creative and operations role. Your primary responsibility will be researching and writing scripts for Shane Hummus’ YouTube content, while also helping ensure everything surrounding content production runs smoothly — including studio setup, recordings, webinars, slides, SMS campaigns, and other marketing operations.

Approximately 60% of the role is focused on scriptwriting, research, and sourcing strong examples, with the remaining time split across studio production, webinar operations, and marketing support.

This role is best suited for someone who is highly resourceful, comfortable using AI tools every day, learns quickly, notices small details, and can solve problems without waiting for step-by-step instructions.

You do not need to already know every system we use. We care more about your judgment, curiosity, ability to learn quickly, and willingness to improve through feedback.

Reports to: Senior Creative Director
Setup: Full-time, on-site at Shane’s residence/studio
Working Hours: 8:00 AM–4:00 PM Philippine Time
Level: Junior-Senior / Trainable

Key Responsibilities

1. Scriptwriting & Research — Core Responsibility

  • Research and write approximately 6–8 YouTube scripts per week, depending on the video format and production schedule.
  • Source compelling examples, case studies, references, screenshots, demonstrations, and supporting material for each script.
  • Evaluate examples based on two key questions:
    • Is this strong enough to create a “wow” moment for the viewer?
    • Does it contextually fit the point being made in the video?
  • Structure scripts to be engaging, clear, easy to follow, and optimized for Shane’s delivery style.
  • Prepare scripts in Google Docs, formatted so they can be read directly during recording.
  • Research unfamiliar topics quickly and turn complex information into simple, usable content.
  • Support tutorial/how-to content by:
    • Completing or testing the process yourself.
    • Screen-recording the process when needed.
    • Turning that demonstration into a clear script Shane can follow while recording.
  • Use AI tools heavily for research, ideation, proof of concept, and example sourcing while applying independent judgment to verify that outputs actually make sense.

2. Studio & Recording Operations

  • Prepare the studio before scheduled recordings.
  • Set up and check cameras, microphones, audio, framing, and other recording equipment.
  • Identify issues such as audio crackling, hum, dropouts, poor framing, or recording problems before the shoot begins.
  • Troubleshoot basic production issues in real time.
  • QA recorded footage before handing it over to the editing team.
  • Confirm recordings are complete, usable, and ready for post-production.

3. Live Training & Webinar Operations

  • Help build and manage presentation decks for live trainings and webinars.
  • Review and QA slides before each session.
  • Make last-minute slide additions or adjustments based on feedback from Shane or the creative team.
  • Coordinate with team members handling delegated slide production and own the final quality check.
  • Moderate the weekly live webinar and VIP session every Wednesday.
  • Monitor attendance and help ensure the technical side of the event runs smoothly.

4. Marketing Operations

  • Help manage and troubleshoot SMS campaigns and related systems.
  • Verify that SMS messages and reminders are actually delivering correctly.
  • Monitor live webinar attendance and coordinate additional SMS pushes with the marketing team when needed.
  • Identify technical or delivery issues before they affect a campaign or live session.
  • Support the marketing team with campaign execution, automations, troubleshooting, and other operational needs.

5. Creative Ideation & Strategy Support

  • Participate in brainstorm sessions with Shane and the Senior Creative Director.
  • Research and pitch potential YouTube topics, formats, examples, and angles.
  • Provide thoughtful opinions and creative feedback rather than simply taking notes.
  • Help evaluate whether an idea is strong enough to pursue before significant production time is invested.

6. Client Deliverables

  • Occasionally support done-for-you creative or content deliverables for higher-tier clients.
  • Client work is not necessarily weekly and may come in short bursts depending on business needs.

Tools & Technology

Must Know or Be Comfortable Learning Immediately

  • Claude — used extensively for research, proof of concept, scripting support, and example sourcing.
  • ChatGPT and other AI/LLM tools
  • Google Docs
  • Google Drive
AI is deeply integrated into our workflow. We are looking for someone who naturally uses tools such as Claude and ChatGPT to research, test ideas, find answers, and move faster — without blindly trusting AI-generated information.

Tools You May Learn on the Job

  • ActiveCampaign
  • Twilio
  • GoHighLevel
  • Webinar/live-streaming platforms
  • Zoom
  • Google Slides
  • Canva
  • Screen-recording tools
  • Basic audio/video recording equipment
  • Slack

Nice to Have

  • Marketing automation experience
  • YouTube content or scriptwriting experience
  • Audio/video production experience
  • Experience working with creators, agencies, or content teams
  • Tutorial/how-to scriptwriting experience
  • Familiarity with webinars or online training events
We care more about tool judgment than memorizing specific software. You should be able to learn a new tool quickly, understand why it is being used, and recognize when something isn't working as intended.

Qualifications

  • Strong writing and research skills.
  • Comfortable using AI tools as part of your daily workflow.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality control.
  • Able to work independently and figure things out without constant supervision.
  • Strong logical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable receiving direct feedback and revising work quickly.
  • Able to manage both creative work and operational responsibilities.
  • Organized and dependable when handling deadlines, recordings, and live events.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to work on-site full-time.
  • Prior professional scriptwriting experience is helpful but not required if you demonstrate strong writing ability, judgment, and trainability.

What We’re Looking For

Strong Judgment

You should be able to think through a problem instead of waiting for someone to give you every next step.

Proactive Curiosity

If you hear a term, tool, topic, or concept you don't understand, your instinct should be to research it immediately.

Strong Attention to Detail

You notice the typo on a slide, the crackling audio during a recording, the example that doesn't quite fit the script, or the automation that isn't delivering correctly.

Resourcefulness

You know how to use Google, AI, internal resources, and experimentation to find answers before escalating a problem.

Self-Correction

Mistakes will happen. What matters is whether you recognize them, learn from them, and prevent the same issue from happening again.

Comfortable Shipping Work

You don't wait until something feels absolutely perfect before submitting a draft. You're comfortable shipping, receiving feedback, improving, and repeating the process.

Coachability

Your work will be reviewed regularly by the creative leadership team. You should be comfortable receiving detailed QA and making changes without becoming defensive.

Who Will Struggle in This Role

This role is likely not a good fit if you:
  • Need constant instructions before taking action.
  • Regularly wait for someone to assign your next task.
  • Say you understand something but don't investigate when you're unsure.
  • Are uncomfortable submitting drafts or making mistakes.
  • Expect to know every tool before you are willing to use it.
  • Struggle with direct feedback or detailed QA.
  • Only want to write and have no interest in operations or production.
  • Only want to handle operations and aren't comfortable writing.
  • Rarely use AI tools or aren't interested in making them part of your daily workflow.

Success Metrics

Success in this role will be measured by:
  • Consistently delivering approximately 6–8 high-quality scripts per week based on production needs.
  • Scripts requiring progressively fewer major revisions over time.
  • Strong, relevant examples sourced for each piece of content.
  • Recording sessions running smoothly with production issues identified before they affect usable footage.
  • Webinar slides and live sessions being accurate, polished, and ready on time.
  • SMS and webinar systems operating reliably with issues caught quickly.
  • Increasing ability to independently solve creative and operational problems.
  • Proactive contribution to video ideas, research, and team brainstorms.
  • Reduced need for Shane and senior creative leadership to handle routine production and operational tasks.

The Ideal Candidate

You don't need to be an expert at ten different things.
We would rather hire someone who is genuinely strong in one area — especially writing, research, or creative thinking — and has excellent judgment, curiosity, and the ability to learn quickly than someone who is average at everything.
This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to become deeply involved in the operations of a high-performing YouTube and education business, develop their creative skills, and work closely with an experienced content team.
If your instinct when you encounter something unfamiliar is:
“I don't know this yet, but I'll figure it out.”
You'll probably fit in well here.
